Mr Graham Keene FRCS MBBS Orth
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon

Graham Keene

Profile
My main areas of expertise and interest in Orthopaedic Surgery are:

  • Primary and revision hip and knee joint replacement surgery
  • Hip resurfacing
  • Arthroscopic (keyhole surgery)
  • Trauma surgery

I have over 10 years experience as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Cambridge, specialising in hip and knee surgery. During the past decade, I have undertaken over 2000 hip replacements and a substantial amount of knee surgery. My experience includes total hip replacement surgery, using a cemented or partially uncemented replacement, with a variety of metal, ceramic and polythene components to make up the joint itself, and hip resurfacing with the “Birmingham Hip”. I favour the Exeter cemented hip replacement, which has very good long term clinical outcome data. I perform revision hip surgery, using a variety of techniques to re-do the failed hip replacement. I undertakes hip arthroscopy for adults with atypical hip pain, labral tears and early osteoarthritis.

My practice in knee surgery includes arthroscopic surgery, for meniscal tears and early osteoarthritis, and knee joint replacement surgery. I favour a cemented knee replacement, typically the Nexgen Knee. I undertake adult trauma surgery for patients with fractures and other conditions, and has a medicolegal practice for patients who have suffered personal injury.

I trained in London as a medical student. I did much of my ‘junior doctor training’ in and around London, before commencing my orthopaedic training in Cambridge and East Anglia. I spent a valuable year in Adelaide, South Australia, working in a dedicated lower limb joint replacement unit.
